About Dr. Royster

My educational background has been centered around families and children. Here’s the boring (but important) stuff….

I received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Family Social Science, with a minor in Family Violence Prevention from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Following this, I received my Master of Arts (MA) in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver. Then, I completed my Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology in the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program at the University of Denver. All of my graduate work and field experience has focused on children and families, with a specialty in early childhood mental health and assessment.

As part of my professional training, I completed an APA accredited predoctoral psychology internship at Rogers Memorial Hospital working with children and adolescents with severe mental and behavioral health conditions. Following this, my Postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin Madison was focused on working with new mothers and babies, and in an outpatient practice working with children and families.  During this time, I also obtained a post-graduate certificate in Infant, Early Childhood, and Family Mental Health from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.

I’m a Licensed Psychologist in the State Colorado, a PsycPact provider, and hold an Infant Mental Health Mentor-Clinical IMH-E® endorsement from the Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health. I enjoy teaching and supervising in graduate programs at the University of Denver, and am active in the World Association for Infant Mental Health, and Colorado Association for Infant Mental Health (COAIMH).

In my personal life, I enjoys spending time reading, hiking, and time in the kitchen trying new recipes. Like all good Coloradans, I love the mountains and spend many weekends there. You’ll almost always be able to find me reading parenting books, and laughing at old sitcom jokes. I especially enjoy spending time with my family and Australian cattle dog.
